Garden update

Hello Tree House fans,

I thought I would dust off this blog to show you how things are coming in the yard. So far, we've planted 183 native plants in the yard; most of those are in the back yard where we are aiming for creation of habitat more friendly to birds. This season I am focused on mulching around the plants to kill the grass (reducing mowing time, yay!) and to conserve water. Here's how it looks this month:

Planting bed and sheet mulching (cardboard over the grass and lots of mulch on top of that) in the back yard

Front yard is starting to fill in

Back yard by raised beds, in progress
New planting area by the back patio - including pile of rocks I dug out of the bed
Planting beds in progress near bird feeder and veggie/herb garden

Flowers going crazy in the front yard
