Planting has begun! I bought some plants and am slowly putting them in the new beds in the front yard. There are some tall shrubs, perennials, and native plants. I also ordered two trees we will plant along the planting strip (known where I'm from as a "tree lawn"). They are native trees called Cascara.
The plants are so small, they look like tiny pipsqueaks. They will grow big but for now they are swimming in yards of soil and compost:
We built some raised beds for vegetables... finally. Here's a photo of them before we have placed them in their final area:
I hope that we have a dry day this weekend so that I can put in the rest of the plants and a cover crop of crimson clover.
